Pedestrian fatally mowed down in Mauguio: the driver returned to the scene of the accident and was taken into police custody

Le drame est survenu dans la nuit de dimanche à lundi 19 février, peu après 1 h du matin, entre Mauguio et Fréjorgues. Un jeune homme de 28 ans est décédé.    

We know more, this Monday, February 19, about the fatal accident that occurred during the night on the RD 189, between Mauguio and Fréjorgues. It was shortly after 1 a.m. that a 28-year-old young man, who was walking on the edge of the road, unlit at this location, was fatally struck down by a car which pursued his route after the shock. 

Dropped off by car shortly before the collision

The firefighters intervened. They noted the death of the pedestrian. The gendarmes from Lunel's company were able to establish that he had been dropped off by car a little earlier, apparently wishing to continue his journey on foot. While trying to catch up with him, a 25-year-old young woman, getting out of the vehicle, fractured her malleolus. She was taken care of by the firefighters and transported to the Lapeyronie University Hospital.

The driver who hit the victim returned to the scene of the accident very shortly after. This man in his thirties was placed in police custody. He is currently being heard by the police.
