Pétanques, darts, sumo fights… La Primafresca 2024 will organize its own Olympic Games in the streets of Nîmes!

Spring is gradually arriving with in its wake sunny days and… the Primafresca! The most festive fiesta in Nîmes will return in April, between April 5 and 7, 2024. Enough to liven up Rue Fresque as the Pentecost fair approaches…

A 2024 Olympic edition

A few months before the Paris Olympic Games (July 26 to August 11), Primafresca is making its comeback and organizing its own Olympic Games on rue Fresque. With an opening ceremony, a closing ceremony and the lighting of the "torch" Olympic Games, without a doubt, there will be many hoping to win the gold medal for this 2024 edition.

Nothing better for a Nîmes event than entrusting the creation of the poster to a local artist. Author of the Croco which serves as the emblem of Usam, the former student of Vauban University, Melvyn Barros, was approached for ;nbsp;realize it. The work will be unveiled at the end of February.

A rich and sporty program

The party will begin on Friday, April 5, at 6:30 p.m., with the opening ceremony of the Fresca Olympics. For the occasion, professional athletes from Nîmes will be present on the traditional balcony, above the Levrette Café. This will be followed by the lighting of the Olympic torch and a torchlight descent with fanfare.

The day of Saturday April 6 promises to be busy with the organization of the first Olympic events (pétanque, beer pong, café pony races, darts and sumo wrestling) between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. Finally, Sunday will conclude two and a half days of festivities with the organization of the grand finale of the Olympic Games (and the espadrilles throwing event) as well as the Olympic Games. the presentation of Olympic medals. Closing of the fiesta on April 7, at 9 p.m.

This year, the Primafresca system will be extended to rue de l'Etoile, Maubet and Thoumayne (in addition to rue Fresque), for a total of 16 partner establishments.
