"Today, nationally, we are at 5 million tonnes of wasted food. Our desire is to save 1 million. The objective is clear for Anaïs, from Montpellier, and Manon, from Toulouse, the two founders of PimPup, launched in 2021. But far from being achieved. In more than two years of existence, the company has saved 300 tonnes of food, by collecting it directly from the producers. Ugly vegetables, too small, too big, dented. "We have found that 53% of waste occurs before the food reaches the store, emphasizes Anaïs. In 2024, we would like to double this figure, with 570 tonnes saved in our region.
National development
For this, on December 26, they launched a fundraising campaign on Tudigo, a platform in the field of unlisted investment, with a minimum amount of 1,000 & euro;. "We hope to reach 600,000 € to be able to develop the company nationally,” she continues. Currently, it mainly covers the Occitanie region, working with nearly 70 local producers and 150 relay points where their anti-waste packages are delivered.

"We would also like to diversify our product range. Today, we mainly offer vegetables, fruits and eggs. But we would like to integrate other grocery products that are unsaleable because they are poorly labeled, with outdated marketing or because of a production surplus, she adds. "But the idea of this fundraising is also to ensure that investors can commit even more, with a return on investment of ' here for a few years,” concludes La Montpellieraine.
