AS Cannes won match 2 of the quarter-finals of the play-off for accession to Ligue A, 3 sets to 0 (25-15; 25-20; 25-13). Third round, this Thursday March 21, 2024, at 8 p.m., at Piencourt, in Mende.

For this second match of the quarter-finals of the play-offs for accession to League A, there was no photo as the Cannes dominated the Mendois, this Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 5 p.m.

From the start, the locals were very efficient, particularly thanks to their Italian recruit, Sala. Haldane called a first timeout at 7-3. Thanks to Silva in "pipe" and Larrieu serving, the MVL returns to 12-12. But Weir and his excellent serves allowed Cannes to inflict a 5-0 on the visitors, bringing the score to 17-12. Mende seems to have given up, Noleto made the difference for the locals, 25-15.

At the start of the second set, we then witness the awakening of the MVL which leads 5-1 by playing its best volleyball. The gap is narrowing but Mende is still in the lead, 10-9.

Opposite, the Italian point guard, more prominent than Friday, continued to gain momentum. The MVL will then hang on, manage to stay in contact before letting go at the end of the set, 25-20.

The start of the third set is hooked since the Mendois manage to hold the score 8-8 with Silva and Neraudau in the block.

Cannes unfolds

The machine will come to a halt, and the Cannes players will be a truly superior team until the end, facing the helpless Mendois.

See you this Thursday, March 21, at 8 p.m., for the 3rd match in Mende, at Piencourt. "We served better and were better in defense on Friday. Our opponent did not play at the level of Friday. We will be very wary on Thursday, underlined Roberto Serniotti, the Riviera coach. While Jasone Haldane, the Lozère coach, was more expeditious: "If their sharp Sala gave a completely different performance than on Friday, it  rsquo; It was mainly us who foiled."
