PODCAST. Languedoc liberated: Pont-Saint-Esprit occupied, a former mayor tells us
|Les bombardements alliés ont détruit le pont et une bonne partie de la ville : Jean-Pierre l’a vécu. D.R. & ML
Jean-Pierre Colombet was still young during the Occupation. Born into a family of resistance fighters, he was lulled by stories of the Second World War. Today, he has made it his mission to keep its memory alive and reveals his memories to us.
Jean-Pierre tells us about the Occupation in Pont-Saint-Esprit in detail. It is a poignant testimony, still vivid 80 years later, supplemented by stories from his family. From the window of their grocery store, the Colombets had a front row seat to the occupiers, the resistance fighters and the bombings.
A story full of meaning for this man involved in the life of the community and for veterans.
