A Lozerian takes on the Atlantic by oar

#PERFORMANCE – Dominique Meynadier, an accomplished sportsman, has taken on a new challenge: crossing the Atlantic Ocean by rowing alone. Leaving on December 13, 2023, the Lozérien travels 100 to 200 kilometers per day using only the strength of his arms. "Even though the ocean is not my favorite area, I’ve participated in regattas and sailed windsurfing", explains Dominique Meynadier who prepared for two years to accomplish this performance and built his boat, "Aim for the ocean". This physical and mental challenge is also focused on ecology since the bags of food are counted at the start of the event in order to see that no waste has been thrown overboard .

Finding costumes from the Montpellier opera

#SALE – Saturday January 27 and Sunday January 28, the Montpellier opera-orchestra is organizing an XXL wardrobe clearance, with the sale of nearly 2,000 stage costumes. Around a hundred masks and headdresses will also be offered for sale. "Costumes cost 1,500 euros, we sold them for 50 euros", explains the costume designer of the Montpellier national opera. The first prices will start at 3 euros. The opportunity, for example, to acquire one of the pieces from the opera Goya, performed in 1996. All styles and all eras will be represented in this exceptional sale. Indeed, the last one dates back to 1997 but opera has never experienced such enthusiasm. 500 professionals have already registered for the private sale which will take place on the evening of Friday January 26, before opening to the public on Saturday January 27. So note to buyers who will sometimes find labels with the year of the show, the production, the role and the performer. What to dream of! Majorettes: a first for Heddwin, 14 years old

#AVEYRON –Heddwin, a young 14-year-old teenager, will accomplish a first in France! In fact, he will be the first boy to participate in the French majorette championship, which is held from May 18 to 20 in Albi. "We will have the pride of presenting for the first boy in competition", proudly announces Coline Soler, coach and co-president of the Aveyron club. Heddwin is the major of a group of around forty majorettes, aged from 6 to 22 years old. They all train at Majos St’Aff’Rance, in Saint-Affrique. The French championship will open the doors to the world championship which will take place in Agen next July. Good luck to Heddwin!

The black diamond at the halls

#BEZIERS –Tuber melanosporum will take the spotlight this Sunday, January 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., around the market halls of Béziers, for the 8th edition of the Truffle Festival. Organized by the Truffles en Occitanie association, with the City, the event will bring together around ten producers of the precious black diamond. Digging demonstrations by truffle dogs are planned at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. and visitors will also be able to take part in a quiz to win small truffles. This year, prices should range between 900 € and 1,200 €/kilos.

#LODEVE – This is the third project launched by the city of Lodève to fight against unsanitary housing in its heart of town. Indeed, the Fleury block will be completely rehabilitated with the opening of a business and eight homes for ownership. They will be aimed at moderate-income households. A public meeting is organized ? on February 27 at the Project house, Grand-rue in Lodève, to present the project and perhaps attract new residents.
