Priority projects for state services in Lozère for 2024

L'une des priorités sera de mieux remplir le lac de Naussac, pour éviter que son niveau ne dégringole. Midi Libre – Archive

Philippe Castanet, le préfet, a détaillé les points forts de l'année à venir. En voici une courte sélection.

1. Strengthening the fight against poverty

This Friday, January 19, 2024, in the Jean-Jaurès room, the Solidarity Pact, launched by the Lozère departmental council and state services, will be signed. Various measures are planned, such as the purchase of electric vehicles, in order to carry out a mobility action with the Aurore association, which welcomes and supports people in precarious situations towards autonomy or exclusion through accommodation, care, social and professional integration.

2. Continue actions resulting from the water foundations

In 2024, the prefecture will ensure that the action plan resulting from the water foundations continues. Two projects are presented as priorities.

The first consists of building water reservoirs on the Causse Méjean, this part of the department hardest hit by episodes of drought. These would be carried out on land which belongs to farmers, but would benefit the community.

The second concerns Lake Naussac. The level of the latter has been at its lowest in recent months, with periods of only 20% occupancy (it is currently at 30%, Editor's note). "We must make two arrangements, confides the prefect. The first is downstream water savings. The second, to better fill the lake, which is my priority. We should put 3 m3/second in the Allier in normal times and 5 m3/second during the fish spawning period. We are based on a logic of services provided downstream. In Lozère, we only benefit from tourism. We are saddened by this lake which is only a third full.'" In terms of downstream economies, Philippe Castanet recommends simple actions: reuse of wastewater from treatment plants, distribution of water savers, organizing the recovery of rainwater.

3. Renewable energy acceleration zone

Article 15 of the law to accelerate the production of renewable energies (RE) provides that the municipalities themselves determine the preferential and priority zones for the development of these RE. The Lozère prefecture, in 2024, plans to be at their side so that they deliberate in this direction.

4. Implement the immigration law

Laurent Fabius announced that the Constitutional Council, the institution he chairs, will rule on January 26 on the subject of the immigration bill, adopted at the end of the year. ;last year by both houses of parliament. State services, which expect that a large part of the provisions of the text will be validated, are already preparing to have it applied. "The idea, as we already do, is to see what the life plan of the person to be regularized is”, insists the prefect.

5. Contribute to the Olympic and Paralympic Games

Lozère does not intend to stay away from the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Part of the department's law enforcement will obviously be mobilized to secure the two events . "Paralympic athletes will also come to train at the Montrodat Euro-Mediterranean Center", assures Philippe Castanet.
