Product recall: Carrefour, Leclerc, Auchan... whole chickens recalled throughout France due to listeria risk

Plusieurs lots de poulets entiers, vendus dans plusieurs grandes surfaces, font l'objet d'un rappel national de produits pour présence potentielle de listéria, indique le site Rappel conso.

If you were planning chicken and fries this Sunday, be careful. Batches of whole chickens are currently the subject of a massive recall throughout France, as indicated on the RappelConso website. In question: the suspected presence of listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria responsible for listeriosis.

Removed from the shelves, these chickens were sold in several major brands, namely Auchan, Leclerc, Carrefour, Franprix, Intermarché and Carnivor.

Here are the products concerned: 

Yellow Chicken "Label Rouge" of the Fermier de Gascogne brand, sold in particular at E. Leclerc, Carnivor, Carrefour, Intermarché

Several batches of yellow chickens from the Fermier de Gascogne brand, and holders of the Label Rouge, are among the meats recalled throughout France.

These are more precisely batches 2074055257, 2074055283 and 2074055327. Also locate the following barcodes: 3283440027487, 3283440192420, 3283440192437, 32834405 25273 and 3283440543857.

The expiration dates vary between January 31 and February 3, 2024. The shelves of these products extend from January 22 to February 3, 2024.

Yellow chicken in film sold at Carrefour

All whole yellow chickens sold in plastic film, marketed from January 27 to February 1, 2024 and to be stored in the refrigerator are recalled.

Their batch number is 2074055351 and the GTIN (barcode number) is 3283440033747.

 Yellow Chicken "Label Rouge" of the Peyac brand, sold in particular at Carrefour, Auchan, E. Leclerc, Système U and Intermarché

Whole yellow chickens from the Peyac brand, also "Label Rouge" are concerned. Two batches are recalled: numbers 2074055257 and 2074055283. Their barcodes: 3283440004839 and 3283440330693.

The expiration date is between February 1 and February 6, 2024, depending on the batch. Marketing took place from January 22 to February 6, 2024.

 Whole yellow chicken "Label Rouge" from the Sud Ouest brand, sold at Intermarché and Carnivor

Latest batches of recalled chickens, those "Label Rouge" from the Sud Ouest brand. The meats were mainly sold in the Intermarché and Carnivor brands throughout France. The recalled lots are n°2074055327 with the barcode 3283440525242 or 3283440344287.

They were sold between January 25 and February 1, 2024. Their expiration dates are set for January 31 or February 1, 2024.

 Whole yellow chicken "Label Rouge" of the brand L’Ardoise du Volailler, sold at Franprix

Latest product recalled by health authorities for suspected presence of listeria: whole yellow chicken "Label Rouge" from the brand L'Ardoise du Volailler.

Lots 2074055257 and 2074055283, both with barcode 3263859235512, are specifically affected. The expiration date is either February 1 or February 2, 2024. These chickens were sold in all Franprix stores in France between January 23 and February 2, 2024.

 The expiration date for the recalled products has since passed. The incubation period for listeriosis can last up to two months, so the health authorities have nevertheless launched the recall procedure. It will end on Friday March 1, 2024.

"An illness that can be serious"

"People who have consumed the "products" mentioned above and who present with fever, isolated or accompanied by headache, and body aches, are invited to consult their attending physician by reporting this consumption", underlines the site government alerts for dangerous products.

Do not consume them

"Serious forms with neurological complications and maternal or fetal damage in pregnant women can also sometimes occur. Pregnant women as well as immunocompromised people and the elderly should be particularly attentive to these symptoms. Listeriosis is a disease which can be serious and whose incubation time can be up to eight weeks", further specifies the site Consumption reminder

If you have one of the products affected by the national recall procedure, do not consume it. Throw it away or return it to the point of sale for a refund.
