Race against breast cancer: only a few days left to register for La Zontienne at Mas d’Escattes in Nîmes

For its 16th edition, La Zontienne includes a new event: the 10 km mixed hike. See you on Sunday 13 October at Mas d'Escattes from 9 am.

Objective: 2,000 participants. On Sunday, October 13, for its 16th edition, La Zontienne, this charity race for the benefit of socio-aesthetic care for breast cancer patients, returns to Mas d'Escattes. Initially exclusively for women, this sporting challenge has gradually integrated men into the events. After the 10 km mixed race integrated in 2020, this year, the 10 km mixed hike is added to the program. The 5 km race remains reserved for women. A 5km mixed hiking trail is also still offered.

80,000 euros donated to Octobre rose

A race that has already raised nearly 80,000 euros since its creation in 2007. “The profits are mainly allocated to improving women's health”, explains Monique Hubert, head of the La Zontienne 2024 committee. The donations have enabled the creation of a socio-esthetics workshop at the Gard Cancer Institute, the financing of travel and meal expenses for socio-estheticians at the Sylvia Terrade school in Montpellier, and the financing of professional social estheticians.

Moreover, for this 16th edition, Camila Leclercq and Mireille Mandon, two socio-estheticians who will both receive the City of Nîmes trophy, will participate in the walk and speak during this day. The Barjot team will also be there to refresh the runners after their effort. "There will also be a daycare to allow families to come, and the Zumba class to warm up the participants", continues the volunteer. Not to mention the T-shirts offered to all participants.
