Insured by the Department of Hérault for an amount of 665,000 euros excluding taxes, the improvements to this axis of only 450 meters constitute the last stage of the Montbazin diversion, commissioned in 2019 The objective is to widen the road, previously very narrow, by 5 to 6 meters and to add shoulders of 1.5 meters on either side of the road. roadway.

A delay "due to weather conditions"

But the five-month project, launched in November 2023, has fallen behind schedule. More than a month late. With consequences for motorists since, since the end of January, traffic has been on a single lane, the Montbazin roundabout being closed for vehicles coming from Cournonterral. Announced "for a duration of approximately two months", this step will take more time. A delay "due to climatic conditions", explains the Department.

It was in fact only on April 8 that traffic switched back to the new lane created, to allow the other part of the road to be paved. Traffic, which will continue to be one-way from the RD2 towards the Montbazin roundabout, will return to two-way traffic "during May" .
