The Pergolines Ehpad reconstruction project made significant progress on Monday evening in the municipal council, after the approval by elected officials of the start of the operational phase of the project. A reconstruction that has become essential, given the state of advanced dilapidation of the premises, owned by the Thau Basin Hospitals. The solution of reconstruction on the site itself, initially envisaged, was ruled out. The City has chosen to sell the abandoned sports fields, with an area of ​​10,000 m2, close to the Jean-Macé school, to build the new nursing home. 1.5 M€ to rebuild the school canteen

After having, at the end of 2022 in our columns, mentioned a free transfer to the Thau Basin Hospitals, the City finally makes this land available for 1.5 M€. An amount which particularly surprised the municipal opposition “given the complex financial situation at the hospital”. The mayor, François Commeinhes, recalls that this transfer requires destroying the cafeteria of the Jean-Macé school and rebuilding it. “The hospitals wanted the Jean-Macé school restaurant to be built in the same location with the canteen of the new nursing home. The ARS is opposed to it. But we have to build a school restaurant…”

Sébastien Denaja proposes that the City buy the Théâtre de la Mer from the Hospitals…

The sum of 1.5 M€ paid by the Thau Basin Hospitals therefore corresponds exclusively to the price of the reconstruction of the school restaurant. The City is also undertaking the rehabilitation of the Jean-Macé school, the project and cost of which will soon be presented. In the spirit of a “white operation”, Sébastien Denaja proposed that the City of Sète buy back for 1.5 million euros; the theater of the Sea to the owner, the Hospitals of the Thau basin…
