An extreme solar storm generated the northern lights in the sky of several French regions, from Corsica to Brittany, via Franche-Comté, during the night of this Friday, May 10, to this Saturday, May 11. .

For the first time since October 2003, an extreme solar storm has hit the Earth since Friday. Apart from some disruptions to GPS and electrical networks, this storm above all created impressive pink-colored northern lights in several regions of the country, much further south than in the regions where they are usually observable.< /p>

An exceptional phenomenon to observe which has been immortalized by numerous photographers. The storm is expected to continue through the weekend, with the arrival of additional coronal mass ejections.

Hérault, Gard and Lozère also affected

In Hérault as in the rest of France, the spectacle was grandiose, particularly in Montpellier, Béziers and Lodève.

If you missed the show, these northern lights could still be visible the night of Saturday to Sunday May 12.

Same spectacle in Gard and Lozère where you had to look towards the North, moving away from any source of light, to see them.
