The French men's volleyball team defeated Poland in the final of the Olympic Games, this Saturday, August 10, at the Arena Paris Sud 1 (3-0).

Historic double

Surprise Olympic champion in Tokyo, the French team confirmed this status by winning the Olympic final again, beating the world number ones, the Poles.

This Olympic double had only been achieved by the USSR (1964, 68) and the United States (1984, 88) in the history of the Games.

At the Olympic level, the Poles won the title in 1976. France pocketed gold in its first Olympic medal. Poland are the reigning European champions and finalists in the last World Cup, while France won the last Nations League. The shock for this final is therefore of high quality.

After coming close to elimination in the quarter-finals against Germany (3-2), the Blues raised their level of play in the semi-finals to have the right to defend their title.
