Road cycling: a global and financial challenge looms for Virginie Murat

Virginie Murat achieved her goals by qualifying for the UCI road bike world championships, which will take place at the end of August in Denmark. A ticket that the Frontignanaise validated during the "Medio Fondo" cycling race, in Rivesaltes, with 138 km to cover and 1,700 of elevation gain.

Second in class

A real test, which took place in Dantean conditions. « There were a lot of gusts of wind and it was the first day of rain there in months, says the one who is licensed at C4H2 in Pignan. « I witnessed five accidents on the course and 115 participants did not cross the finish line…hellip; » In the end, Virginie Murat finished the race in second place in her age category.

Now all that remains for her is to face another challenge. Because the budget to participate in the world championships is the responsibility of the runners, namely 100 € registration, three nights of accommodation on site, plane ticket for her and the bike in special luggage storage. « I am currently looking for sponsors to help me carry out this project. There, I will do my best to represent France and women in the world of road cycling! »
