An operation coordinated by the prefect at the request of the public prosecutor on Monday, August 5 led to the discovery of irregular health and salary practices in Sète.

A coordinated operation of all-out checks in shops was carried out in Sète on Monday, August 5. With the illicit sale of tobacco, illegal work (undeclared employees, employment of foreigners in an irregular situation, etc.) but also non-compliance with health regulations in the line of sight.
In total, 15 restaurants and night grocery stores, rue Mario Roustan and Promenade J-B Marty, were checked, notably at the request of the prosecutor, by various judicial and administrative units (the office fight against illicit trafficking of migrants 34 of the interdepartmental border police service, the Sète police station, Urssaf, the labor inspection, the municipal police, the Departmental Directorate for Population Protection) .

Employees without regular residence permits in the territory

According to this Codaf, four illegal foreigners were arrested in two separate establishments. One of them, of Algerian nationality, worked at the cash register of a night grocery store. The other three, Indian nationals, were employed in a restaurant as waiters and a cook. Procedures for administrative sanctions have been established against the companies and managers concerned for employing foreigners without a permit, undeclared work, residence assistance, failure to declare employees, concealment of hours worked and unworthy accommodation conditions. Employees are required to leave the country immediately.

Spoiled or poorly preserved meat

In addition, the first night grocery store was ordered to close for 48 hours, with an obligation to comply, after the discovery of food stored in the toilets next to cleaning products. As for the restaurant already mentioned, it received a fine for poor hygiene practices and lack of traceability of goods (it had to close as it could no longer operate).

Two other food establishments were fined for health reasons including expired or poorly preserved meat (it was destroyed).
