Rugby: Jan Serfontein extends his contract for one year with the MHR, thank you Bernard Laporte

The South African three-quarter center Jan Serfontein, announced as leaving last fall, finally continues his adventure with Montpellier.  

Announced about his departure last fall, the three-quarter center of the MHR, Jan Serfontein (30 years old, 35 caps), has finally extended his lease one season (plus one optional) with the Hérault club, according to information from L'Equipe.

Laporte changed everything

At the end of the contract, the South African, basic man of the Montpellier three-quarter line since 2017, owes this turnaround to the change of staff and the induction of Bernard Laporte, appointed last November 18, who wishes to retain a leader of his stature.   

Serfontein, former Bulls player, won the European Challenge in 2021 then the Top 14 the following year.

This season, he has started eleven times, proof that the bottom of the Top 14 is counting on him in his maintenance operation.
