Rugby union: the recovery begins this Sunday, January 21 for RC Sète

The Sétois, in difficulty in the standings, host Marseille this Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Bayrou stadium.

The year 2023 ended badly for RC Sète. A cascade of injuries and suspensions brought the good start to the season to a halt. With the highlight being the match against Jacou which, beyond the defeat, ended with four red cards on the pitch and five others in committee…

Result: for their last match, on December 10 in Draguignan, the Sétois conceded a sixth consecutive defeat (27-14), a first in the young history of the club. The alarm bells therefore rang at the Bayrou stadium, even if this match in Draguignan, with Michel Milovic taking over as coach, brought hope.

It's time to turn things around. RC Sète is now eighth with 14 points (four points were taken away), just one point from the first relegation place, Isle sur la Sorgue. There is danger. The arrival of Marseille this Sunday (3 p.m. at the Bayrou stadium) will therefore imply an obligatory victory for the troops of Michel Milovic and Éric Mercadier.

The Phocéens are sixth (16 points, three victories) and on a series of three defeats. During the first leg, the Sétois won 13-18. And their last victory dates back to October 15…
