President of RC Uzès, Franck Séropian wants to be confident before his team's semi-final against the Béarnais of SA Monein. Interview.

RC Uzès plays Sunday June 16 in Mazères (Ariège) in a semi-final of the Regional 1 French Challenge against the Béarnais de Monein. The winner will face either Marcoussis (Essonne) or Lalinde (Dordogne) in the final. Franck Séropian, the president of the ducal club, while remaining lucid, believes in victory.

How are you experiencing this course in the Challenge de France ?

It’s a beautiful waking dream. At the end of our group matches, we were in fourth place, the most uncomfortable. We were drafted to compete in this Challenge and warned at the last moment. It was necessary to recall the players and do intensive training to regain proper physical condition.

This Challenge, initially, was just a bonus. We have four victories against teams which, on paper, were superior to us. The contract is already largely fulfilled but we are still hungry.

How do you see this semi-final against Monein ?

It looks tough, very tough. We will have to be at the top of our form. Everything is possible. Victory will be decided on the field but also in the minds. We are ready. The group understood that he was not there by chance.

Our young team, supervised by a few experienced players, is now going into battle together, showing a lot of solidarity. Confidence in his qualities has increased.

Does this give you any regrets about the season ?

Yes. With matches canceled then rescheduled, teams excluded then reinstated, the truncated season was difficult.

We had an average championship in a tough group – Corbières, who finished first, is in the semi-finals of the French Championship – but the group did not demobilize after the descent to Regional 1.

Awareness of our qualities came late. The objective, which was to maintain, was nevertheless achieved. Next season, we will aim to climb to Federal 3.
