Saint-Affrique: Patrick Galtier, president of the RCSA, takes stock of the season

After flirting with the top of the table, the RCSA pennant team finally finished 7th out of 10 teams in the general ranking. She finished with the competition a few weeks ago, after having hoped for a time a hypothetical qualification for the final stages. The opportunity to take stock of the season and consider the future with Patrick Galtier, president of the RCSA

What is your assessment of the senior teams' season ?

We are disappointed not to have achieved the objective we had set ourselves of securing a place for the qualifying phases. We don't miss him much. The season has ended early for several years now. We had good results away from home, bringing in defensive bonuses but also underperformance at home.

For me, the most successful match was the one against Vendres, we should have won. Our starting squad was correct but we had a few injuries like Antoine Salvetat and Jason Coldefy to name but a few. It should be noted the very good integration of the three juniors, Garvi, Merviel, Guipal into the first team.

For the reserve team, the results are correct. This team which experienced many changes during the season was missing a backbone. Generally speaking, we can regret the lack of involvement in senior training during periods without a match.

How do you view the club in general ?

I am very satisfied with our territory's enthusiasm for rugby. The rugby school functions perfectly thanks to the 35 educators. The agreement with Camarès is working. We have a team of female cadets, the male cadets and juniors have qualified for the final phases. The work of C Saurel and J Curaut in schools is very appreciated and beneficial for the club. The club volunteers are well present… However, I am disappointed by the lack of supporters during the matches even if the pre-match bodega is really a success.

Will there be any changes in the offseason ?

The staff will be the same. With the departure of Guillaume Bouissou, there will now be four of them managing the senior teams. For the moment on the player side the squad would be approximately the same. The partnership with Castres continues, a relocated training session for the Tarn team will take place at the municipal stadium on May 22. After 6 sessions, the work around the "RCSA 2030" project continues and is already bearing fruit. More precise results will be communicated during the general meeting which will take place on July 5.
