The sale of lily of the valley by individuals, on public roads, on May 1st, is a tradition. Tolerated, it is nevertheless regulated to avoid unfair competition to professional florists, recalls the Gard prefecture. Thus, this Wednesday, non-professionals will only be able to sell uncultivated flowers, without roots, without the addition of foliage or other flowers, without packaging or any container and without the use of ;fixed installations, including a table. Furthermore, this sale must not take place less than 40 meters from a florist.

What is the penalty in the event of an infraction?

Offenders will risk a fixed fine of 300 €, which can go up to 3 750 € and, as an additional penalty, the possibility of having the goods destroyed or confiscated.
