The socialist deputy for Essonne Jérôme Guedj announced on Thursday that he would contact the Montpellier prosecutor for "threats of a religious nature" which allegedly took place before the attack on a 14-year-old girl in front of her school.

"Justice has seized the attempted murder in Samara. But upstream, there were threats of a religious nature. I am contacting the public prosecutor of Montpellier so that prosecutions can be initiated on the basis of the little used article 31 of the law of December 9, 1905,” he explained on the social network the copy of the letter, where the deputy underlines that "the mother of the victim (…) reports in particular that her daughter, of Muslim faith, was treated as "kouffar& quot;, which means "disbeliever" in Arabic, and "kahba", which means "whore", and this because&# 39;she "puts on makeup and "dresses'in a European style"".

"The left must not be afraid to tackle issues of secularism"

Mr. Guedj, who is also national secretary for secularism of the Socialist Party, justified his approach during an exchange with journalists: "The left must not have afraid of tackling issues of secularism. It's his DNA. Woe to those who forget it". This referral comes two days after the attack on the teenager, Tuesday in front of the Arthur-Rimbaud college, in the La Mosson-La Paillade district, northwest of Montpellier. The young girl, "seriously injured", came out of a coma on Wednesday and was to be heard by investigators on Thursday, according to the Montpellier public prosecutor's office.

Three minors still in police custody

Three minors, aged 14 and 15, were taken into custody on Wednesday for attempted murder of a minor under the age of fifteen. The affair arouses numerous reactions in the political class. The environmentalist deputy of Paris Sandrine Rousseau thus estimated that "this aggression is absolutely, totally, sexist" and affirmed that "Samara and all women have the right to dress however they want, everywhere". The head of the National Rally, Marine Le Pen, pointed out the role "of the Islamists" including &quot ;the'objective" is "to change our society, our habits and customs, our way of dressing, eating, entertain us. "It is time to declare war on this totalitarianism that attacks our children", she added.

"It is unbearable that the reactionaries are rushing into this affair to fuel their electoral campaign", replied the LFI MP for Montpellier, Nathalie Oziol, adding "as a teacher" that "the suffering of students, families and educational teams comes above all from a lack of resources and chronic understaffing".
