Six months suspended sentence for the sexual assault of a Montpellier vacationer in Meyrueis

Last September, a fairly drunk man entered the camping house of a father and his two children, all of whom were asleep.

The facts are chilling. While he is sleeping in the bedroom of his campsite, rented with his two young children, this vacationer from Montpellier feels a hand caressing his back and going down between his buttocks. It is around 3 a.m., this Saturday, September 9, 2023. A fairly drunk man has just crawled into his bed.

Once his victim wakes up, he flees. At daybreak, the father goes around the Meyrueis campsite where he left his luggage, in order to obtain information about his attacker. An individual who, earlier in the night, had already offered him oral sex, while he was lurking near his summer rental.

Prohibition of frequenting drinking establishments

Once identified and located, around 12 p.m., the gendarmes just had to arrest him. His blood alcohol level is recorded. He still has 0.56 milligrams of alcohol per liter of exhaled air, or 1.12 grams of alcohol per liter of blood.

This Thursday, February 8, the attacker appeared before the Mende criminal court for sexual assault by a person in a clearly intoxicated state. The defendant with a clean criminal record claimed to remember nothing about his late evening, during which he drank very large quantities of alcohol on the sidelines of the opening match of the Rugby World Cup between France and New Zealand.

Registration in the File of perpetrators of sexual offenses

Valéry Morron, the public prosecutor, requested a year in prison for him with a three-year probationary suspension, with the obligation to take care of himself and work.

The judges, after ruling out the alteration of discernment, found him guilty of the acts with which he was accused. In repression, they sentenced him to six months in prison with a two-year probationary suspension, with an obligation to provide care, to work, as well as a ban on frequenting drinking establishments. The accused was also registered in the File of perpetrators of sexual or violent offenses (Fijais).
