SNCF gares & connexions annonce des travaux sur les quais de desserte en gare de Nîmes centre à partir de septembre 2024.

This fall, the management of SNCF gares & connexions announces work starting in September to make the platforms serving tracks A, B and C at Nîmes centre station accessible and modernize them. A project worth 4.2 million euros, funded equally by the State and SNCF gares & connexions.

SNCF wants to improve access to trains for the eight million passengers and accompanying persons who use Nîmes centre station each year. The platforms will meet accessibility standards so that people with reduced mobility can take the train independently.

Two phases of construction

The work will, among other things, raise the ends of platforms 1 and 2 to 55 cm to align with the train thresholds (tracks A, B and C), resurface, new furniture, upgrade the lighting, modernize the sound system, and install sound beacons for the visually impaired or blind. The work will last four months. A second phase is planned for 2025 for platform E. A total of 7.7 million euros will have been invested.
