Stormy weather in France: weather forecast for the next 24 hours with the movement of storm Boris

This Tuesday, September 17, 2024, several French departments are placed on storm and rain-flood watch. As Storm Boris moves toward Italy, the East of France will experience some disruptions.

Storm Boris is moving south after devastating Central Europe. While it threatens Italy, the depression will cause some disturbances in the south-east of France.

Also, Météo France places this Tuesday nine departments on alertstorm and rain-flood, at yellow or orange alert levels.

Vigilances

Until tomorrow morning, Corse-du-Sud, Vaucluse, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var, Alpes-Maritimes, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Charente-Maritime and Ain are on yellow alert. Haute-Corse is on orange alert.

"The former depression Boris which caused severe weather in central Europe in recent days is moving to Italy this Tuesday", explains La Chaîne météo. As of September 17, the site indicates: “This Tuesday, strong storms are already breaking out in the afternoon in the Alpes-Maritimes, the Var and to a lesser extent, Corsica.”

But during the night, it is Corsica that will be the most affected by these disturbances: “The very stormy and heavily rainy situation continues”, warns the site.

Heavy rain

This night will therefore be the most risky in terms of storms on the island. Same thing early in the morning, where heavy rain is expected: “Amounts ranging from 80 to 100 mm generally with peaks of over 150 mm towards Cap Corse." The bad weather will calm down as the day goes on before returning in full force on Thursday evening.

At the end of the week, another stormy episode will hit France. This time, it will not be for the southeast of the country but for the entire west coast, followed by the southwest. To be expected: thunderstorms from Friday night to Saturday, and until Sunday evening on the Occitan coast.
