Suffering from vomiting, more than thirty high school students hospitalized during a school trip, the “white plan” system triggered

On the night of May 1st to 2nd, 32 students from Essonne who were participating in a caving program in the Hautes-Alpes suddenly suffered from vomiting and stomach aches. The "white plane" was triggered at the Briançon hospital center in the face of the massive influx of patients.

The school trip to Hautes-Alpes did not go as planned. It was around 3 a.m. that emergency services were alerted, on the night of Wednesday 1st to Thursday 2nd May, by chaperones from a school group, for several cases of vomiting and stomach aches among students.

Welcomed to the Écrins d’Azur holiday center in Vallouise-Pelvoux, these high school students from Essonne were participating in a school caving project, tell our colleagues from Dauphiné Libéré. However, two days after their arrival, 32 students had to be taken care of by the Briançon hospital center.

Gastroenteritis outbreak

Their symptoms are believed to be due to an outbreak of gastroenteritis. However, samples were taken at the accommodation center, under the direction of the Regional Health Agency in order to ensure that the group was not the victim of a collective food poisoning.

Faced with this influx of patients, the "white plan" was triggered. The hospital invited residents to contact 15 before going to the emergency room. The objective: to ensure good continuity of care, despite the overload of patients.
