Summer tour: a thunderous stop in Clermont-l'Hérault

It was an arrival that did not go unnoticed on Monday, September 2 in Clermont-l'Hérault: horns, flashing lights, humming engines, burning exhaust pipes. At noon, no fewer than 400 bikers invaded the city center on their machines, real works of art that you don't come across every day. Mostly Harley Davidsons and Gold Wings, all personalized: flags, stuffed animals, pins, snakes or skulls. The least we can say is that the drivers are not lacking in imagination.
These bikers, who quickly raised the decibels in the city, are the Brescoudos, an association that has more than 1,200 enthusiasts. Like a true tradition, these motorcycle lovers crisscross the hinterland every year for eight days, particularly Cap d'Agde and its surroundings. They cross at least three towns per day to share the biker art of living. «  We are the largest private gathering of bikers in France, », explains Chantal, secretary of the association. « We are very itinerant and we value this freedom,», she adds.
The opportunity was perfect for the Summer Tour team, who naturally stopped to cover this visit. «  I thought it was great to have these two events, which have freedom as a common theme, coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Liberation celebrated by Midi Libre,», rejoices the mayor of Clermont-l’Hérault. And who says Summer Tour, of course says interview. While some Brescoudos lent themselves to the microphone game, others tried their luck at the Jackpot to leave with an accessory from your favorite newspaper.

A return to school under the sign of projects

After having validated the paella, Mayor Gérard Bessière, at the microphone of Jean-Pierre Delor, recalled some of the many projects launched by the municipality to improve the lives of the people of Clermont. «  We are very focused on our youth. We have made great efforts with schools since the beginning of this mandate by creating, for example, a new establishment. The teachers and students seem delighted ». He also mentioned the renovation of the historic centre with the purchase of the castle, the creation of a cultural and solidarity centre, the establishment of a multidisciplinary health centre, collective accommodation and the distribution of local agricultural products. « And that's not all”, concluded Gérard Bessière.

Today, the association has grown considerably and has no fewer than 1,200 members from all over France. Inspired by a Gothic style, no two machines are alike.
