Table tennis: the BMSTT offers a mixed leisure section, for people with or without disabilities

In parallel with individual and team competitions and youth training – beginners or champions –, the BMSTT is offering this season a mixed and inclusive leisure section, which is experiencing increasing success.

It welcomes players aged 20 to 75. Some of them are able-bodied, others have different types of disabilities, but all have a common objective: the pleasure of exchanging the ball, or even of «& nbsp;fight » sometimes through small matches and various tournaments, but always in a friendly and good-natured atmosphere. Moreover, the children and grandchildren of group members, as well as young and old graduates and others sometimes come to participate with pleasure, even enthusiasm, in these sessions.

The recipe for this success ? Friendliness, shared goodwill, a regular mixing of partners, a little bit of technique, and matches in different forms, always hotly contested but without taking themselves too seriously.

A weekly session

They also organize fun evenings which sometimes extend training. In December there was a “Ping and board games” with the Bagnolais board games club. A crep’ping evening was held a month ago. Sometimes a real tournament is organized, also open to competitors with points handicap, where leisure people have the opportunity to exchange a few balls with the best players of the club (the majority – including the young champion Adam Gomez – ; participates!). They face each other in friendly but spectacular matches.

These leisure sessions take place on Mondays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for leisure “complete beginners”, and from 6 p.m. nbsp;nbsp; at 8 p.m. (so 30 minutes shared with the previous group) or even beyond for more experienced leisure activities. There are still a few places left for fans who want to give it a try. Meet at the Saint-Exupéry gymnasium on Monday evenings (except public holidays) until mid-June.
