Taekwondo: at the FDI Stadium in Montpellier, the 3MTKD organizes the Occitanie championships before the French championships

Organisés par le club montpelliérain du 3MTKD Sport Culture Social, les championnats de la Ligue Occitanie rassemblent, tout le week-end, 400 spécialistes régionaux de taekwondo au FDI Stadium qui accueillera aussi les championnats de France, les 17 et 18 février prochains.

Before seeing the French championships (February 17 and 18), a major event on the national taekwondo scene, the room will vibrate to the rhythm of the Occitanie championships, this Saturday and this Sunday. This event, organized by the 3MTKD Sport Culture Social in partnership with the Occitanie Regional League, will welcome nearly 400 competitors representing all the clubs in the Occitan territory.

Bellahcene: "A token of trust"

In order to promote the discipline, entry to the FDI Stadium will be free, thus offering spectators and accompanying persons the opportunity to experience this sporting moment and discover, for some, taekwondo. "This is the second consecutive year that we have organized this event in Montpellier, rejoices the president of 3MTKD Sport Culture Social, Karim Bellahcene. We are very happy, it is a guarantee of confidence on the part of the Regional League, in our ability to be able to organize major events."

In the presence of 3MTKD athletes

This regional competition will take place in the presence of high-level athletes from the Montpellier club, preselected for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, who will come to encourage the new generation. The stakes are high, continues the manager. Qualification for all French championships, minors, cadets, juniors, seniors will be at stake. It will also be an interesting meeting for us before organizing the French senior championships where all the athletes will try to win the title and hope to be selected for the European championships."

In the organization, the 3MTKD, supported by the services of the city of Montpellier and the Metropolis, will be able to count on 80 volunteers and the participation of 60 athletes who will try to shine at home.

The weekend program

Saturday 7 a.m.: doors open, 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m.: cadet, junior, senior, masters competition; 3 p.m.-4:30 p.m.: official weigh-in of the next day’s competitors; 7 p.m.-8 p.m.: presentation of medals and awards.

Sunday: 7 a.m.: Doors open; 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.: Junior and junior competition; 4:30 p.m.: Presentation of medals and awards
