Emmanuel Macron a confirmé mardi 16 janvier lors de sa conférence de presse fleuve que la franchise sur les médicaments allait bien être multipliée par deux. Et ça devrait arriver vite.

"We consume too much medicine. It’s not the consumer who pays for it, but it’s always the same, there’s no magic money . At the moment when I see what our compatriots can spend on telephone plans, daily life, thinking that we are going to go from 50 cents to 1 euro for a medicine, I do not have the feeling that ;rsquo;we are committing a terrible crime."

As reported RMC, Emmanuel Macron confirmed Tuesday January 16 during his full press conference that the franchise on medicines was going to be multiplied by two. Without giving a date.

According to Le Parisien, things could go quickly: in the coming weeks, “since the government does not need a law to act”, “the amount of the deductible” relevant “of the regulations”. Our colleagues note that Emmanuel Macron has also specified the contours of the capping of this franchise, which will be 50 € per year for people suffering from long-term conditions (ALD).

It remains to be seen whether this doubling will also apply, as was discussed last summer, to paramedical procedures, nursing care and rehabilitation carried out by physiotherapists and speech therapists. The President did not comment on this subject.

17 € more per year on average

The medical franchise on medicines, whether packaged in boxes or bottles, was created in 2008 under the five-year term of Nicolas Sarkozy. Its amount has never been increased until now. This excess is automatically deducted from the reimbursement made by Social Security. And it is not covered by complementary health insurance. Its doubling aims to encourage the French to reduce their consumption of medicines and increase Social Security revenue.

Le Monde recalls that the former Minister of Health, Aurélien Rousseau, “ had quantified the impact of doubling deductibles at an additional 17 euros, on average, per person and per year”. On RMC this Wednesday morning, Catherine Simonin estimated that this measure was a “sanction” for patients. The spokesperson for France Assos Santé pointed out “a message that goes against public health. If we do not treat a person early, they will deteriorate later, and the expense will be even worse for national solidarity”.
