The store, which specializes in second-hand goods for individuals, was due to open its doors this Wednesday, August 7. Unfortunately, it did not obtain approval from the town hall, due to the safety commission not having passed through on time.
Administrative problem… While the team of the brand new Au Vide Grenier store in Béziers was ready for the opening, scheduled for this Wednesday, August 7 in the morning, the hammer blow fell on their heads the day before. On Tuesday, the Béziers municipal police came to inform the manager of the structure that due to the absence of the security commission, the establishment could not open its doors to the public.
“We are a little confused because nothing has changed in the premises, except the name (the franchisees have set up in the former Go Sport store on rue de l'Industrie, Editor's note). In terms of fire safety, we are beyond what is necessary in terms of standards, including fire hose reels. We had all the checks done (electrical safety, fire extinguishers, etc.) in July and we were warned the day before for the next day,” laments Florent Loron.
Staggered rentals
“This is the first time this has happened to us in eight years, agrees Patrice Soares, deputy general manager of the Au Vide Grenier network. Now, we should not look for a culprit, it is probably due to the summer holidays, which caused a delay in processing the file. It is a shame because 2,600 people had registered to attend the event”.
Joséphine Loron, the director of the venue, assisted by Julien Claret, prefers to make the best of a bad situation. “We are disappointed, of course, but we are concentrating on the small adjustments or cleaning that we can still do between now and the official opening, which we hope will be in about ten days.”The one who worked until recently in Haute-Savoie, in the mass distribution, is in any case delighted to return to the region. “We lived in Magalas a few years ago, where I had a decorative hobby store.”
A modular decoration
Faced with 303 stands already all filled, this designer for children – “I make embroidered soft toys, sewing and scrapbooking” – imagine the decor of this 1,200 m2 hangar. She has already set up a cozy little corner with items for sale where you can come and relax. "We are also thinking of creating a cultural corner with vinyls, CDs, DVDs and books and another space dedicated to sport. What is great is that everything is modular, so we can constantly reinvent it so as not to create boredom".
The rentals of the stands, for their part, are staggered over time "but the first feedback we have is very positive. We found ourselves facing sellers who respected the instructions. We really can't wait for the people of Béziers to discover our store…"
