The Bagnolais Oliver Agier invites his friends to exhibit with him, a snub and a goodbye

The painter shares the spotlight with other artists for this exhibition “Blood roof nest Moa". Opening this Friday evening, with live music and many surprises, at Domaine Bel-Air in La Roque-sur-Cèze.

This is an exhibition that is close to his heart. He's been preparing it for months. Active for several decades in Bagnolese cultural life, the artist Olivier Agier invites his artist friends to friends (the Domaine de Bel-Air in La Roque-sur-Cèze), for a major joint event. The exhibition is called "Sang roof nid Moa (And friends first!)", and is the subject of a festive opening this Friday June 14 from 6:30 p.m. "It’s a way of thumbing our noses at galleries and museums that cater to a conquered public. In the artistic world, everyone plays it solo. I’ want a celebration that brings together all modes of expression, for a break of creativity and generosity(*). What nourishes me are the meetings, the exchanges." Thus, the Bagnolais invited Art artists & Co (Ingrid Woudstra-Derlon, Renée Bouchez, Marie-France Santin, Sylviane Sénéchal). Let us also mention acrylic works by his son, Marco Agier, by Jean-François Ruiz ("sublime"), of late Nathaly Hertwig-Gillet ("I adored her, and this exhibition is also thanks to her")& hellip;

Blurring borders   

Olivier Agier will present around thirty new works, "mainly portraits with significant work around graphics.I am influenced by advertising, fashion, all arts. I am for blurring the boundaries between disciplines". So this mother who holds her baby and protects him from the rest of the world, &quot ;there are more and more single mothers", or the famous Diana, with a Pinocchio nose, "as if the end of his story was a lie". Or this “Me the madman, moa the SSAGE”, with two S, because "the first people exterminated in the camps were those suffering from mental illness". Mental illness, madness, he talks about it freely, he who regularly stays at Mas Careiron in Uzès.

"To be an artist is to try to echo the pain and beauty of the world"

"A life where mental illness has marked the course of a rich and chaotic existence made of encounters and betrayals […], of inability to be part of this world and of wanting to magnify it at the same time" he wrote recently. Quoting famous artists, "who have bitten into the fruit of madness", Olivier Agier shares: &quot ;Artistic creations are often the scene of a chaotic life, of perpetual questioning. To be an artist is to be different, it is to bear part of the pain of the world and its beauty, and to try to echo it." This great exhibition is also a goodbye. The Bagnolais plans to move to Uzès to pass on art therapy.

Opening reception, concerts, entertainment and surprises, readings, show, from 6:30 p.m., this Friday June 14, at the Domaine de Bel-Air (La Roque-sur-Cèze). Exhibition visible during cellar hours until August 15.
