The “Ceasefire in Gaza” collective will be in its 21st week of demonstration this Saturday. Midi Free – Laura Vaillant

On Saturday, the 'Ceasefire in Gaza' collective, on the occasion of the 20th rally in support of Palestine, took action against the Carrefour brand. Monday evening, during a press conference, the members of the group returned to this action.

Twenty weeks and so many Saturdays during which the collective "Ceasefire in Gaza" showed his support for Palestine. Speaking, writing names of dead children, "dying" or live broadcast of an exchange with a surgeon on site; the collective continues to expand the field of possibilities to make its demands heard.

A boycott of the Carrefour brand

Among them, the call for a boycott of the Carrefour brand. "The demand comes from Palestine itself" , justify the members of the collective, Monday evening, during a press conference. They respond to the BDS (Boycott Divestment Sanctions) boycott campaign launched in 2005 by Palestinian civil society.

Already on Saturday February 3, demonstrators went to the entrance to the Carrefour store, located on Place du Mandarous. The objective of this approach: "Explain to store customers the reasons for boycotting the brand but also other brands such as Sodastream, or Sodastream, ;Axa company", denounces Elisabeth Lepetitcolin, from Palestine 12.

“There are no more stars in the sky, only drones”

Pascal André, doctor, has returned from the European hospital in Khan Younès, in the south of the Palestinian enclave. Monday evening, it's a hollow face. and the eyes ringed that,  during the press conference of the "Ceasefire & Gaza", he testified  of what he experienced during the exercise of his functions. "There is no more stars in the sky, only drones. With permanent internalized pressure […]. We have nearly 50 patients operated on every day. This is the reality. just amazing what we maintain."

As for à what can be done from Europe or the United States, he confides. "The bombs continue à rain. It's very important not to stay in small weekly movements. It will soon be too late", he begins. And continues:  "I came home with the idea of ​​«Let's dare to meet &amp ;raquo;. You have to meet people who don't think the same way at all. It's interesting to understand what's going on inside them."

"We have 500 signatures from people ready to boycott"

Two actions were then carried out at the Carrefour du pont Lerouge. During the last one, Saturday February 24, the demonstrators entered the supermarket. "Two people entered and put products from of Israel in order to denounce. These are, for example, avocados or grapefruits", explains Elisabeth Lepetitcolin.

"To date, we already have 500 signatures from people who, on paper, are ready to boycott Carrefour", adds Iñaki Aranceta, of the NPA (New Anti-Capitalist Party). These signatures should be given to the director of the brand before asking him to remove the list of targeted products. In the meantime, the collective has a new meeting on Saturday, place de la Capelle. "For this fourth action, we will do something else!", chants the NPA activist.
