The “City nature challenge returns” to Millau tomorrow

From tomorrow, and until April 29, Millau and the Grands Causses are participating in the City nature challenge, a naturalist challenge to identify the fauna and flora of the region.

This is a challenge that nature lovers cannot ignore. The objective is simple: share your photos of the territory on the iNaturalist application for the City nature challenge. A challenge which allows, on the one hand, "to show the general public that nature is present all around us", presents Amandine Uhmann for the community of communes. On the other hand, to supply an  data directory "open-source" reused by the world of research.

In 2023, Millau was one of three cities in France which took part with Paris and Toulouse. Only six people contributed to this panel, to reference 27 species in 33 observations made. For this year, the organization hopes to attract more people.

Three meetings

Three dates are planned. Aimed primarily at students of the Higher Education Centre, but still open to all, a hike led by the Millau Grands Causses tourist office to the Creissels waterfall is planned for tomorrow (9 & nbsp;h in front of the Creissels village hall).

Saturday afternoon, a bike ride on the green trail in the company of the permanent center for environmental initiatives (CPIE), accessible from 7 years old, will allow the  discovery of the fauna and flora (departure from Maladrerie at 2:30 p.m.). A second general public meeting will take place on Monday, from 12:30 p.m. during a stroll along the banks of the Tarn.
