L’élevage installé à Castries depuis 1983 présente ce samedi 15 juin ses vaches camarguaises au public du Salon des Agricultures Méditerranéennes, à Villeveyrac.

The cows of the Jean-Pierre Vitou herd went into action this Saturday morning, near Villeveyrac, on the occasion of the Mediterranean Agriculture Show. The animals are being demonstrated inside the ring, where some youngsters are trying to tame them, carefully avoiding crossing their path.

“We release these little Camargue cows, in order to see their temperament and select the best, says Jean-Pierre Vitou, the manadier, established since 1983 in Castries, at the head of a breeding of 99 heads. Young people are going to test them. It's a first approach, a way to test their adrenaline. These cows are two years old, it's a relic and wild breed, whose horns are protected for safety. It is also, and above all, an opportunity to show our profession, to share our traditions."

The breeding bulls of the Vitou manade are then sent to the arenas of Bouches-du-Rhône, Gard and Hérault, for the Camargue races.
