The Daudet student office is mobilizing to create student life in Nîmes

The Daudet Student Union is hosting its annual gala this Friday, February 9 at Hasta Luego. The opportunity to unwind before the holidays, but above all to offer a student life to these 500 students in the Nîmes prep classes.  

He hopes to be a History-Geography teacher. And has been struggling for almost two years, among his fellow students in the Daudet prep class, to stay the course while not completely renouncing the lightness of the first student years. Tariq Colombero, originally from Montpellier, arrived in Nîmes for the start of the 2022 school year, among the students of khâgnes and hypokhâgnes. A new city to discover, new friends, new responsibilities too."I had to learn to manage my studio, shopping, maintenance, money…"

And a colossal amount of work. Between 6 hours of supervised homework and tons of knowledge to acquire. We might as well play on transparency, a new life that leaves little room for the euphoria of the newly acquired freedom, the celebration and the lightness that we dream of enjoying at 20. 

A tailor-made organization

However, following studies does not necessarily have to rhyme with monastic life. And the Daudet student office understands this well. Thus, in addition to the investment generated for the common interest with the regular dissemination of information linked to the City's youth service, internal communications and attentive ears to all questions, the BDE takes care to organize a big evening before all the holidays. Halloween, Christmas… Festive events designed to create cohesion and provide breathing space in a studious daily life.

And this Friday, February 9, the event of the year is scheduled: the gala. "It's really the evening most awaited by Daudet" students, explains Tariq, elected president of the BDE since the start of the school year . "This year we decided to place it under the theme of the Cannes festival". On the red carpet menu, photo frames of stars, and required gala outfits. Enough to have glitter in your eyes and a light heart.

Especially since the students have thought of everything: with the help of the town hall, four buses are made available to all participants to take them from the station (and then bring them back) to Hasta Luego. Safety guaranteed on the roads therefore. "The budget for the evening is substantial", observes Tariq. "15,000 euros, which comes from previous evenings but also of course from the ticket office. Entrance is set at 28 euros for students (30 euros for others) and includes transport as well as four drinks during the evening."
