“The government has not respected its commitments”: Carole Delga denounces “the brutal attack by the State” on the budgets of the Regions

During the plenary assembly, the president of the Occitanie Region spoke of 210 million euros in less revenue over two years, as well as the consequences of these disengagements from the ;State".

" The government has not respected its commitments and the Regions are suffering the full brunt. With 210 million euros less in revenue over two years, including 136 less in 2024, our ability to act will be impacted.

Carole Delga's tone is serious, in front of the 158 elected officials gathered on this Thursday, July 11, in plenary assembly, at the Montpellier Exhibition Center, when she addresses the subject of the amending decision relating to the 2024 budget.

Faced with inflation, "no compensation"

She keeps it when she resumes her remarks a little later, in front of the press: "The State brutally attacks community budgets to fill a deficit that it itself dug, while good managers, they are the first public investors in the daily lives of the French. I deplore this significant and constant decline in resources for seven years and the presidency of Emmanuel Macron" continued.

"It is up to the future government to take its responsibilities"

An alarming situation, which, the President of the Occitanie Region specified in the aftermath, will have immediate consequences:"In 2025, the Region will stop making up for the State's shortcomings. We will no longer compensate for disengagements, particularly in terms of railway investments or energy renovation. We no longer have the possibility, we must make savings, we cannot put the regional community in a zone of budgetary tension. And it will be up to the future government to take its responsibilities".

A speech which is worth "for all the Regions of France, because everywhere the budgetary situation has become complex", assured Carole Delga.

Savings options considered

Among the savings avenues envisaged, in addition to those already mentioned, the President of the Regions of France mentioned a request which will be addressed "to the partners of the Region in good financial health, to accept a one-off reduction in the amount of aid". And to mention a "slight reduction in subsidies", so as not to "apply brutal cuts". The"partners" who will be called upon for this effort were not revealed this Thursday.

Elections not forgotten

The European and legislative elections have not been held. forgotten during this plenary assembly. During which Carole Delga addressedé his "féRepublican&elicItations" to the four elected regional advisors European deputies, and to the five others re-elected to the Palais Bourbon.

In her speech to elected officials, then to the press, she reiterated that if "an advantage has beené given Sunday to the left forces, we must remain humble. We are missing almost a hundred deputies, so we have to start with the NFP project, but, after that, we need a majority. We must therefore gather together, go towards Macronie".

Previously, Julien Sanchez, recently elected MP European (which will lead him to leave his mandate as mayor of Beaucaire), had indicated that he participated in its last session, leaving the leadership of the National Rally group to the left. the Region to the deputy Gard Yoann Gillet. And to welcome "the election of 20 deputies from Occitanie, out of 49, & the National Assembly".

On the other hand, it was noted, as part of this decision amending the 2024 budget, to increase the price of registration cards (ultimate tax revenue for the Regions), to bring it to 54.5 € per fiscal horse, from October 1, 2024, "in order to integrate the recent evolution of inflation". That is an increase of e "+ 7.5 % applied to the current rate of 47 €".

Local communities, "scapegoat" of the State

On the opposition side, Julien Sanchez (National Rally), once again stigmatized “an abysmal debt which has increased by + 225 % in nine years. Carole Delga nevertheless continues to spend outside of skills. And she is starting to do tax manipulation, with the increase in the price of the registration document. Fortunately it cannot levy any other taxes!"

For the Languedoc elected officials of the right and the center, Christophe Rivenq, criticized the State: "He has found his scapegoat, the local authorities, he thinks it will be painless, they do not demonstrate, do not strike… And the Region is thus experiencing reductions in allocations. This is scandalous! We must give back to local executives the freedom to raise taxes, so that territories can be innovative and ingenious."
