The “grande allée” and its perspective take shape on the Charles-de-Gaulle esplanade in Montpellier

La partie haute de l’Esplanade, côté Corum, a été rendue aux piétons. Midi Libre – T. J.

Une partie des palissades dédiée aux travaux a été enlevée. On y voit – un peu ! – plus clair sur le devenir du site.

More spectacular than the Place de la Comédie, the construction site on the Esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle will change its appearance even more. This is where the majority of the 50 million euro budget is concentrated. initially announced by the Metropolis. And the first installment is progressing well.

New coating completed

At the end of these Easter holidays, the upper part, on the Corum side, was even returned to pedestrians. We can thus walk on the new surface which has just been completed and discover the perspective of this "grand avenue", as it was originally described. In part at least. As well as the stone benches, even if they are not yet accessible, or the jet reservations for future fountains.

Inauguration scheduled for June 21

Just two months before the inauguration, scheduled for June 21, this part of “l’Espla” is in the right tempo. What remains is the revegetation and the construction work which is still substantial at the start of the Comédie. On the Champs-de-Mars side, the war memorial and Bosc kiosk as on Boulevard Sarrail, you will still have to wait. As a reminder, the end of the Comédie-Esplanade work is announced for fall 2025.
