“The horror film has begun”: two children present during the Nice attack recount their trauma

Aged five and four at the time of the Nice attack, Landy and his brother Teylian recounted during the appeal trial what they experienced with their family that evening of July 14, 2016.

Two children seriously injured during the attack in Nice on July 14, 2016 testified for the first time this Monday, May 6 during the appeal trial. Landy, now 13, and her brother Teylian, 12, read to the court a text they had written to tell the horror of what ;they experienced that famous evening, when 86 people lost their lives.

"The horror movie has begun"

"We had a very good evening with the family. And suddenly, nothing more", says Landy first by videoconference, from the room specially designed for children's testimonies at the Palais de justice of Nice, indicates BFMTV. "Suddenly, boom, nothing more. We were hit by the movement of the crowd and this large truck. The horror movie has begun."

For thirty minutes, the two children, aged only five and four at the time of the events, testified to the fear they felt that evening. Landy notably mentioned a moment that particularly marked her: the one when their eight-month-old little brother was thrown with the stroller he was in. For several hours, the family searched for the child, who was finally taken care of by a couple.

"We didn't have the strength to do it yet"

"The children were very hurt, but in addition they saw the terror of the parents", explains the & #39;lawyer for the family of the two teenagers.  "I'was a lost child. I was sad, terrified, anxious for nothing, continues Teylian. Today, he is still subject to behavioral and concentration problems, anxiety and a fear of abandonment.

"I told what my whole family experienced and what I had. At the first trial, we were still a little small, and we didn't yet have the strength to do it. But now, we have the strength, and we did it, declared Landy at the end of the hearing, in remarks relayed by BFMTV.
