The Laudun-l’Ardoise diversion is “much more than a road”

15,000 vehicles cross L'Ardoise daily… After four years of construction, motorists have been using this three-kilometer detour since Thursday, July 11. The inauguration took place on Wednesday evening. The operation cost 30.2 million euros.

It was declared of public utility in 1999. 15,000 vehicles cross L’Ardoise daily. The deviation from the RN580 to Laudun-L’Ardoise measures 3 kilometers. The project lasted four years, this new road required the creation of four roundabouts and three engineering structures. It materializes the future removal of the level crossing at the entrance to the hamlet of L’Ardoise (from Avignon). And a carpooling area will be created.
This long-awaited diversion was inaugurated Wednesday evening in the presence of elected officials from the territory, the regional prefect and the prefect of Gard, state services, businesses (our edition from yesterday). "It’is an important day for the town and the Rhone Gard. This infrastructure, the result of several years of hard work, will profoundly change our daily lives. And local residents will find the tranquility they deserve, thanked the mayor of Laudun-l’Ardoise during the speeches. Twelve companies and thirty-two subcontractors worked, including AER, which was responsible for all the equipment (sliders, concrete walls, vertical and horizontal signage). "It's a pleasure to have participated in this major project", testifies Salim Baali, works manager at AER.
The operation will have cost 30.2 M€ to which is added the amount of land acquisitions. The State financed the infrastructure to the tune of 53.2%, the Occitanie Region to the tune of 19.87%, the Department of Gard, 17.55%. The Agglo du Gard rhodanien contributed 8.94%, or 2 million euros, an important effort for the community as highlighted by its president Jean-Christian Rey, who also made & ;quot;homage to the jagged magician, we are very sensitive to these subjects of environmental preservation. And this project is an example: bringing together the environment and structuring projects". Indeed, "8 hectares of compensatory measures for biodiversity have been put in place and water resources have been preserved.< /p>

With the roundabout at the exit of the A9…     

This new road link is located in the heart of a rapidly evolving industrial and activity zone. The president of the Agglo recalled "the numerous consultation meetings for the route, the public meetings" and the importance of this deviation for economic attractiveness, "it’is much more than a road". Another important infrastructure was inaugurated at the same time: the roundabout at the A9 exit at Roquemaure which replaces a dangerous crossing, it will be completed in the coming days.
Infrastructures from which the entire territory benefits, as Nathalie Nury underlined, in her capacity as vice-president of the Department:  "It is the connection between our municipalities, between us." The regional prefect, Pierre-André Durand, testified to the elected officials: "Our fellow citizens do not measure all the work that this involves. It’is a great example of intelligent partnership serving the general interest."

For traders, the old road will not close until early 2025

Yves Cazorla, the mayor of Laudun-l’Ardoise, askedé that the closure of the road by which motorists crossed L’Ardoise until here, linkedé closing the passage &agrav; level n°38, be pushed back, so that merchants are less abruptly deprived of a significant flow of potential customers. "The prefect of Gard has authorizedé that the closure be postponed until now January 2025." In parallel, the municipalityé has been working for several months with SPL30 to create a commercial hub close to the GR4 (roundabout) "whereù traders will be more visible". The building permit is filed. and &agrav; the study, announced the mayor.
