Hydromer, la toute nouvelle drague des ports de la Région, est arrivée ce mardi 5 mars à Sète.

It's not every day that a port, in this case that of Sète this Tuesday, March 5, welcomes the first stopover of a brand new ship . This shows that the port community gathered in large numbers at the end of the Aspirant-Herber quay to mark the inaugural docking of' Hydromer, the new dredger built by the Piriou shipyard in Concarneau.

Electric energy produced by diesel engines

This unit, replacing the Cap Croisette left to experience a second life in Brazil after 50 years of action,  paid off, a few days before that of Stopover in Sète, a sort of parade by stopping not far from the Môle then activating an immense jet of # 39;water. The unit, 70 m long, then went around the breakwater before mooring at the corner of the Richelieu docks. In relative silence. Indeed Hydromer, which took around ten days to cover the distance between Brittany and the Singular Island, is propelled to the ;electric energy. Energy produced by classic diesel engines. But it's still less polluting and less noisy.

A capacity of 1,500 m3

The new unit cost 29 M€ (including 25.75 M from the Region) and could be powered by hydrogen at the end of 2025. In the meantime, it will begin its mission in the ports of the coast and remove sediments 1,500 m3 for each operation.
