On December 16, 2023, a Nimois man was sentenced to 17 years of criminal imprisonment, by the Gard Assize Court, for acts of rape, attempts of rape, sexual assault, on minors aged under 15 and for having used social networks to make sexual propositions to minors. took place behind closed doors.

This forty-year-old used a pseudonym – "Emilie" (Editor's note: the first name has been changed) – on social networks. He was unmasked, in 2021, by a collective of citizens who, via a false profile, had arranged two appointments for him, in the city center of Nîmes. The collective immediately alerted the Nîmes police station. The suspect had asked the teenager to come, in a skirt and without panties, to the two meeting locations, set in the city center of Nîmes. Although he was present at both meetings, the teenager (the false profile) was obviously not there. 

Gendarmes in cyber infiltration

One of his pseudonyms, Emilie, had already been spotted, five years earlier, by the gendarmes in the region of Toulouse who, too, had used a false profile, " Nadia " (the first name has been changed), a teenager aged around twelve, as part of their cyber-infiltration missions. Over the course of these numerous discussions of a sexual nature which continued for months, the Nîmes man who posed as a teenage girl had asked for naked photos and videos. He had suggested that "Nadia"   chat, via social networks, with a man who liked young girls and was ready to meet her for a sexual relationship In Toulouse. The meeting never took place. The Nîmes man had announced that he was hospitalized.

Investigations continued in the surroundings of Nîmois

The forty-year-old was indicted, by an investigating judge in Nîmes, in 2021, for having made sexual propositions to a minor under 15 years old, followed by of a meeting and corruption of a minor via social networks. The Nîmes man had admitted the facts with which he was accused. The investigations carried out by the police then continued in his entourage. Three young girls filed a complaint for rape, attempted rape, sexual assault by violence, coercion, threat, and surprise. The three teenage girls were under the age of 15 when they were attacked. They were represented, before the Gard Assize Court, by Mes Ludivine Gloriès, Isabelle Vignon and Fanny Crozel. Only one of the victims was present at this hearing. The Attorney General requested 15 years in prison for the accused, defended by Me Estelle Marquès-Freire who requested the reclassification of part of the facts, in sexual assault and Me Patricia Perrien.
