The Open Sud de France will remain in Montpellier for the next three years after being threatened with disappearance

L’Open va continuer à vivre à Montpellier. Midi Libre – Alexandre Dimou

INFO MIDI LIBRE. Un temps menacé de disparition suite au retrait du financement de la Métropole, l'Open Sud de France restera bien à Montpellier pour les trois prochaines années, la Région Occitanie ayant réussi à réunir les fonds nécessaires.

Tennis lovers in the region will finally be able to sleep soundly.

While a hole of 400,000€ was to be filled to ensure the maintenance of the Open Sud de France in Montpellier, following the withdrawal of funding from the Metropolis, a solution was found by the Occitanie Region, according to our information.

Three more years at the South of France Arena

Thanks to the hard work of its vice-president in charge of Sports Kamel Chibli, who had promised to find a solution by the end of the week and who managed to bring together public partners and some private citizens from the city and the region, the tournament will continue to take place for the next three seasons.

It was amid cries of joy from the public that the news was officially announced to the public at the Sud de France Arena, after the final won by Alexander Bublik against Borna Coric on Sunday. Excellent news for the tournament, after a successful 14th edition, between the advent of local boy Arthur Cazaux, and an attendance record broken.
