The roof of the uninhabited house collapses in the middle of the village: big scare for the inhabitants of Marguerittes

The latest rains took their toll on the roof of the house, which was placed under emergency order.

Big scare for residents of Place du Calvaire, in Marguerittes and the surrounding area. Indeed, as detailed by the municipality, on the night of this Tuesday, 26, to this Wednesday, March 27, "a loud noise marked the collapse of a large part of the roof of the "blue house", attached to the old chapel".< /p>

The planned demolition

This residence, unoccupied at the time of the events, had been the subject of a diagnosis which concerned the buildings of the ’chapel island". Its fragility was then notified, leading to "the creation of a security perimeter in order to avoid any danger to passers-by". Since then, continues the town hall,  "heritage studies, asbestos and technical diagnostics have been carried out". Thus, the demolition of the house is scheduled for the coming weeks, the necessary budget having recently been voted by the municipal council.

But the rainy episodes of recent weeks and the collapse of the roof have led to the implementation of a danger order. By Friday March 29, a partial demolition will be undertaken, making it possible to preserve the "last remains of the chapel choir", while ensuring security in the sector.

An area to avoid

"From March 27 and the next two days, Grand’Rue, between Place du Calvaire and the Church , has been closed to all traffic (vehicles and pedestrians), and it is recommended that users avoid the area as much as possible, concludes the City of Marguerittes.
