Hanging from a tree

On Saturday, hearing the cries of the victim, the shepherd immediately called the emergency services of the Sindhudurg district in India. The fifty-year-old was tied to the tree with a metal chain. She was in psychological distress and seemed very emaciated.

When help arrived, she was unable to speak. So she began by giving evidence in a small notebook, writing in particular that she had been there for 40 days.

According to her statements, her husband tied her up there, without leaving any food at her disposal.

An investigation opened

Transported to the hospital in Goa, the victim was examined for the first time. Psychological tests confirmed a “extreme psychosis”. This American woman is said to be prone to mental health problems, with schizophrenia at the top of the list.

“When we found her, she was severely dehydrated. It appears she was stuck there for at least 48 hours. “She was mute,” investigators eventually wrote in their report. Although for the moment, they have no certainty as to the time she spent stuck in this forest.
