The spring fair and the agricultural forum are next weekend in Saint-Affrique

La 41e édition de la foire et le forum de l’emploi auront lieu le vendredi 5 et le samedi 6 avril.

The 41st edition of the spring agricultural fair organized by the Young Farmers (JA) of Sud-Aveyron, coupled with the second agricultural employment forum, will take place on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 April in the public garden, on Place Foch and at the Caveau. The same weekend, at the village hall, the craft fair organized by the Saint-Affriquedynamic association will be held from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 April. The organizers of the two events are working together.

"I welcome the dynamic that is taking hold in the city that weekend, declares Mayor Sébastien David. These three events will be a big employment celebration, with an agricultural and artisanal variation."

General public event

Nicolas Fanjaud, co-president of the 40 Young Farmers (JA) of South Aveyron, recalls that the fair took on an agricultural bent in the 1990s: "before, it was more oriented General public. From 2010, the JAs helped organize the meal. And in 2017 we took charge of the entire fair by focusing specifically on agriculture with the livestock and equipment side. Because the fair was doomed to disappear. Today, it has taken a good turn and continues to grow. This year, we are joining forces with the craft fair. It’s a challenge for both events to be a success."

Regarding the agricultural fair, "it’is an event intended for the general public to communicate positively about agriculture, specifies Aurélien Viala, administrator of the JA. It is also a professional meeting focused on employment, installation and transfer of operations. Everyone, we are told, has work, we need skills, but we cannot find employees. We want to speak positively about the profession in complete transparency."

Because the particularity of the fair is that an agricultural employment forum will be held for the second consecutive year. Facilitate meetings For Delphine Mialet, team manager at France Travail,"The objective is to raise awareness of the sectors that are recruiting and the opportunities in terms of employment. The palette is very broad and the public is unaware of this. We are here to make this job market a little more transparent, but also to identify needs and inform job seekers. The objective is to facilitate meetings and to explain how we can access these professions."

Around ten posts will be posted on the forum. In South Aveyron, around a hundred job offers are submitted to France Travail each year. The local Mission will also be present. It supports young people aged 16 to 25 who are not in school and are looking for career paths. In 2023, the local mission of Saint-Affrique welcomed 373 young people and supported 250. Last year, around twenty young people participated in the forum.

"Candidates are no longer looking for the same job all their lives, explains Delphine Mialet. Recruiters are looking for interpersonal skills and candidates are looking for quality of life at work. These values ​​must overlap. It is through meeting and direct exchange that this can match."

One of the big highlights of the spring fair is the refreshment bar, an essential meeting place, and the Friday evening meal under a heated marquee (18 & ;euro;).

Agricultural employment forum: the program

It will take place on Friday April 5 and Saturday April 6. Friday April 5, à 1:30 p.m., opening by the organizers and partners. From 1 p.m. to 30 p.m. 5 p.m., under the marquee in the public garden, presentation of training, job exchange and meeting with recruiters. Round tables at the Caveau: from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. 2:45 p.m., discovery of agricultural and para-agricultural professions, with a technician from Unotec, two from Cuma and a business manager. ; from 3 p.m. à 15 hours  45, testimonials and presentation of the courses   installation and & the transmission. Saturday April 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 12:30 p.m., under the marquee in the public garden, presentation of training, job exchange and meeting with recruiters.
