The trial of the mayor of Vias, pursued by the State, regarding the footbridge built at the end of Avenue de la Méditerranée, in Vias Plage, postponed at the request of the public prosecutor.

This Thursday morning, February 15, was to take place the trial of the mayor of Vias, prosecuted by the State, for the construction of the footbridge which gives access to the beach at the end of avenue de la Mediterranean. In this case, there are two defendants, Jordan Dartier in his own name and the town hall. But the latter is also a civil party because she is a potential victim. Something to get lost in. The hearing was to take place this Thursday at 8:30 a.m. It was shortly after noon that the decision was made not to judge this case.
Jordan Dartier showed up with his lawyer. The town hall finances two lawyers, one to defend themselves and another to defend the victim that they could be.

The case was postponed at the request of the prosecution until May 7 to be judged on the merits.

Conclusions were missing

The representative of the public prosecutor, Nemenja Despotovic, considering that he had not received conclusions of nullity from the defense "in time which allows them to be properly studied. This way of practicing,he retorted to the defense lawyers of the mayor and the town hall, gives the impression that you wanted this case to be dismissed."

A little earlier in the morning, this same prosecutor had refused two defendants a delay even though they had had the trial date for eight months. Double standards ? The prosecution had all the conclusions of the Vias affair since February 2023 and therefore two conclusions of nullity since early Wednesday afternoon. Namely the validity or not of the infraction report.

The president, Abdessamad Errabih, confirmed that he had received the lawyers' conclusions on time and that he was ready to debate. The defense lawyers were also in the same position. But for the serenity of the debates the referral was accepted. At the same time of speaking and without addressing the fund, the demolition of the footbridge was discussed, the subject of all disagreements, the president agreeing that his jurisdiction was not competent to make such a decision.< /p>

Around twenty inhabitants of Vias present

In the courtroom, around twenty residents of Vias had traveled to Montpellier to witness the debates and undoubtedly the fall of the elected official. They will therefore have to wait a little for that. In any case, they will also have to be more discreet during the next hearing date, the bailiff having made them leave the room for a few moments so that they do not appear. wear more of the Orange scarf that they had decided to wear to get noticed. "No sign of any affiliation or that may be related to a demonstration is allowed in the room of a hearing", we were confirmed.

Obtain calm debates

"The prosecution, explained Me David Mendel, the lawyer for the mayor of Vias, wished to respond to the conclusions of nullity raised by the municipality and by the mayor of the municipality. The president preferred to respect the adversarial matter until the end and therefore gave him time to respond by returning the file to a relatively short date. Thus, the municipality, the mayor and the citizens will be determined quickly. I think everyone is aware that this is a file that is legally complex and that we want a peaceful and high-quality trial for the good of all."
