As part of the Terre de jeux 2024 label awarded to the community of municipalities in connection with the Paris Olympic Games, the City of Saint-Affrique will host the team for a preparation course, from Sunday July 7 to Sunday July 21. Brazilian women's rubgy at 7.

This Friday morning, Mayor Sébastien David and the president of the departmental council Arnaud Viala received at the Edmond-Devillers stadium Danielle Abreu-Pereiran, head of the Brazilian national rugby sevens team, and Joao Luiz-Da-Costa, assistant coach. They spend three days on site to visit the facilities and establish the program for their preparation stay. On this occasion, the three partners signed an agreement.

L’Aveyron, large sports field

"This sports ground has seen major French rugby clubs as part of the Vaquerin challenge, Castres Olympique, Stade Toulousain, ASM and great players like Chabal " declared Sébastien David to the attention of his guests. "It’is a sign of victory that we are offering you by doing the preparation course in Saint-Affrique."

Arnaud Viala indicated that Aveyron is a very sporting department: "sport holds a very large place in departmental policies. Our concern is to ensure that it is accessible to as many people as possible. We are very keen to ensure that the Olympic Games are not only in Paris but that they also have a very local resonance." The elected junior members of the departmental council have been working for two years on the Olympics and the Olympics in France.

Exchange times are planned

On Thursday July 11, a day promoting 8 pin bowling, a traditional Aveyron game, will be organized at the public garden in partnership with the Department's sports department. Brazilian players will be able to learn about this sport, just like the general public. At the end of the day, there will be a competition with national level players. On Tuesday July 16, still in Saint-Affrique, a meeting is planned between the Brazilian team and local rugby clubs to discuss rugby issues and the Olympic challenge. "We are committed, with the city of Saint-Affrique, to ensuring that the resources we mobilize to welcome this delegation allow us to open up this Olympic Games sequence to our local clubs,"< /em> emphasizes Arnaud Viala.
