The Biterrois and Nîmes spared no effort to rise to the occasion.

Four serious and armed novillos from Jean-Luc Couturier made the short trip from the Mas de Coste-Haute to the Louis Thiers arenas in Saint-Martin-de-Crau on Saturday morning.

A prize which offered pleasure to the aficionados who had half-filled the stands despite a strong icy wind which largely disrupted the fights. The Valverde offered different nuances of bullfighting with demanding novillos and others developed class during the faenas.

If the two novilleros sometimes sinned by a lack of experience or technique, their behavior and their total commitment are to be commended in conditions made very complicated by the seriousness of the cattle and the wind which constantly put them in danger.

Jaume hits a Valverde de vuelta 

Clemente Jaume faced a mobile and brave first Valverde on horseback during his two meetings but who lacked class in the muleta. The Biterrois managed to build a meritorious faena with notable series on both horns but his efforts were reduced to nothing with the steels where he was caught twice.

Still as committed and ambitious, Clemente Jaume welcomed his second opponent kneeling in front of the toril. The impressive Valverde delivered a good tercio of spades before developing great qualities in the muleta. As determined as ever, he stood in the center of the track to pass the toro behind his back. His faena often lacked temple and the passes deserved more slowly.

The weather conditions certainly did not help and several left-handed series will remain to be remembered. Unfortunately, two failures in the steels deprived him of an ear and then the toro was awarded a fully justified vuelta.

Niño Julian demonstrated his usual ease at the banderillas against the second Valverde. Faced with a high and dangerous toro on the right horn, the Nîmes never lowered its flag to build a meritorious faena on both banks. He too experienced failures at the conclusion where his sincerity cost him a spectacular buffer.

The Nîmes hopeful did not have the opportunity to shine on the cape against his last novillo who did not lower his head when he entered the track. On the other hand, the tercio of pikes perfectly led by Gabin Rehabi proved spectacular with Valverde attacking the cavalry with alegria three times from the center of the ruedo. If Valverde was devious on the left horn, Niño Julian offered a few right-handed series to the best effect before concluding with a sword positioned too far back. This conclusion dampened public enthusiasm and the petition was not powerful enough to gain an ear.
