Theatrical improvisation, a real remedy for gloom

It's an original leisure idea to have fun, spend time, meet up with friends and laugh! This is what Jérôme Goubin offers with his association La Ligue d'improvisation agathoise (Lia). But let's not be fooled by its playful and relaxed aspects, the association is indeed cultural and almost, one could say, public health.

Theatrical improvisation can free speech, externalize thoughts and feelings, allows the shy to open up to others and can even calm hypersensitivity such as violence. Improvising is an art that Jérôme Goubin, a theater teacher and past master in the art of arbitration, knows how to distill, a task that is not always easy, depending on the levels of the people competing during improvisations. Jérôme is assisted in his task by his partner Brigitte, who is just as passionate as him.

The association is just one year old and already has 14 students aged 34 to 69. She has been teaching two improvisation classes per week since October 2023. "We continue to develop our project, our charter to give a social dimension to our association by intervening for charitable associations or structures surrounding people who need smiles more than others. Prepare the next generation and pass the baton to new teachers (beginners or experienced), develop this discipline in Agde and its surroundings. Get the participants, who wish, to improvise in front of an audience, specifies Jérôme.

He would like to particularly thank David Nourry the director of the VTF le domaine d'Agde, a private structure which has trusted them and welcomed them from the start. Also Brigitte Dandoy-Connort director of the Agde theater, Lina Torres of the new Café, Yvette des Lund impros, Laurence Campos and her team from the CCAS, and Allison Director of the Saint-Martin Holiday center.

The future presents itself under the best auspices in continuity with two adult courses per week at the VTF and a course for children aged 8 to 11, which would take place at the Agde theater, depending contacts made during the Forum of Associations on September 7. The next cabaret will take place on August 31 at 8:45 p.m. at the VTF Le Domaine d’Agde Holiday Village (20, chemin Raymond-Fages). Twenty places are reserved for the Agathois public.
