Theft of around fifteen vehicles in Biterrois: four men taken into custody

Several people have just been arrested in Valras-Plage, Avignon and Marseille, following a joint investigation by the Béziers police station and the research brigade of the gendarmerie company of Béziers. The trial will take place on April 11. 

Monday March 11, three men and a woman were arrested in Valras Plage and Avignon. All were already known to the courts for thefts and violations of drug legislation. A fourth man, also known for drug trafficking, was arrested in Marseille while he was selling products. During the searches carried out at the various protagonists' homes, the authorities discovered a firearm, a police card, a flashing light, balaclavas, cannabis resin (60g) and equipment used to steal motor vehicles.

Thefts using the "Mouse Jacking"

"The investigation carried out under the direction of the Béziers public prosecutor's office was carried out as part of a joint referral from the Béziers police station and the research brigade of the Béziers gendarmerie company", indicates the public prosecutor Raphaël Balland, in a press release. "It concerned serial thefts of vehicles (15 incidents identified between January 22 and March 6, 2024), committed using the technique known as "Mouse Jacking" (theft without keys by hacking). The vehicles were then resold, including in Spain, to customers who had previously placed orders for theft".

The four individuals were presented to the Béziers public prosecutor's office on March 14 with a view to their appearance before the criminal court, which postponed the trial until April 11 while keeping them in pre-trial detention.
